TV Friendships I wish had been developed.

I had a previous post where I mentioned that I’d always hoped Sam McCall & Robin Scorpio (General Hospital) had developed a friendship and It got me thinking about a couple of other friendships I wish had actually happened.

BTVS (Cordelia Chase & Buffy Summers)

Through the first 3 seasons Cordy and Buffy basically have an adversarial type of relationship, but there are glimpses that they could have had a real friendship. One of my favorite episodes is Homecoming because we get to see them interact throughout most of the episode. I also love that its made clear that underneath the “animosity” they clearly do have bit of respect for each other. I’m actually a bit curious how the Cordy that evolved on AtS and Buffy would have interacted. I always felt that Buffy & Cordy had a lot similarities, but those similarities multiplied once Cordy became a champion herself. I always kind of wished we could have gotten episode where Cordy had to go back Sunnydale for some reason (without Angel) and had to interact with Buffy and the other Scoobies.

Smallville (Lois Lane & Tess Mercer)

Tess began the her time on the show as the replacement for Lex which meant she and Lois were on opposite sides. I always loved their interactions, but I knew they couldn’t be friends because they were on different sides. It wasn’t until Season 10 when Tess started redeeming herself, that I thought they could have a legitimate friendship. We did see glimpses that they had gotten closer (Tess planning a engagement party for Lois, Tess attending Lois bachelorette party), but it was still clear that Lois didn’t completely trust Tess based on their scenes in Beacon & Dominion. I do think they bonded while they were waiting for Clark and Ollie to get back from the Phantom Zone, but we didn’t get to see it onscreen. I just wish we had gotten an episode where we could have them bonding or even working together onscreen.
